Newcastle Philosophy Society
Events January to July 2009
This year the event will be organised as a day school in association with Northumbria University. The general theme is 'philosophy in everyday life' .
Time: 10am to 3.30pm
Venue: Ellison Building Room D112
Date: 27th June 2009
Critical thinking skills and the method of Socratic Dialogue will be used to develop the theme. Further information will be available nearer the event date.
Café Philosophique events held on Monday evenings in association with Café Culture will be followed by a discussion the following Monday. An NPS member will assist the discussion.

27th July on Medical Ethics (following Ray Tallis talk)
Venue: Dance City Urban Café/ 1st floor social area
Group will meet on the 3rd Tuesday of month. The aim is to discuss the philosophical implications and questions raised by a film: epistemological, ontological and moral. Membership of the Society is essential for this Group.

A free format open discussion session where all are welcome to raise questions and comment on issues. The aim is to involve people who do not normally consider philosophy as being important or relevant to them.
Meetings will be on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. Someone from Newcastle Philosophy Society will be at the Lit & Phil, Westgate Road, from 10am to promote the discussion in the café area downstairs.
Everyone is welcome to join in.

Joint NPS-Quakers meetings starting in the New Year to discuss topics of common interest. Further information will be made available on the NPS website.
