The NPS Café Philosophique is our flagship
event. It meets about every six weeks on Saturdays between 2pm and 4pm.
There is a £1 entrance charge (which may be waived by application to the NPS committee). At each session an
invited speaker - possibly you - gives a short (10 -15 minute)
presentation on a philosophical problem of interest to them. The subject
is then thrown open to discussion. The subjects discussed are selected
to foster a lively debate. The meetings will be of interest to anyone
with even a passing acquaintance with philosophy. Everyone is welcome to
attend and contributions are always welcome.
The Cafe Philosophique meets at the Quaker Meeting House in Jesmond,
Newcastle upon Tyne. This is next to Jesmond Metro station and a stone's
throw from Newcastle City Centre. There is public parking across the road in
St George's car park. We are delighted to announce that there is full
disabled access to all rooms. A kitchen is available for our use so feel
free to bring tea, coffee, sandwiches, cakes etc and create an air of
suave sophistication for all on the rive nord of the Tyne
